You will still find small bars and cafes but not large clubs. The beach is a narrow strip of sand. The bay is protected by meltemi and northern wind and the sea is almost always calm. There are umbrellas and beach chairs, you can rent water bicycles and do water sports. The waters are deep with great clarity. The area is amphitheatrically built and most hotels have unlimited sea views. When the weather is fine you will even see the small island of Dia north of Heraklion. The place has a special beauty and from above it is impressed with the blue serene waters.
